Well I have no doubt I will be juggling this one for a while. I think I should spend some of it on my wife because she is absolutely priceless Nothing is set in stone and I may find I am indeed very content with the Krome so why spend that extra grand. Ok so the Krome is not as versatile as the Kronos but would I even notice? I doubt it and worst case scenario I play with the Krome for a while and upgrade to the Kronos. It has fantastic non looped pianos.which is what I play most of the time, some outstanding synth sounds, great drums, touch screen interface, decent keybed.especially if I go for the 88 key version and most important for me, it can load sounds for the M3/M50 and third party/user created sounds. So there I was talking about perhaps buying the Krome and saving a grand in the process but my darling wife is insisting I buy the Kronos However, as much as the idea appeals to me I am really thinking the Krome will do everything I need it to do. Its been around for a while too and may only have limited USB functionality.Īn audio interface with Midi Ports will often perform much better and with much more stability. Even though they provide USB and say this can all be done, how well depends on may factors and how well the Kronos performs over USB. You might end up with an audio interface with Midi IN/OUT to achieve a better result. Meaning you will have to do multiple passes from Kronos to Studio One if you want to process audio separately for each part etc.ĭespite the Kronos having its own sequencer and audio recorder, I would imagine you would not be using these and let Studio One handle both of those operations instead.Ĭheck the Korg forums which are talking about this very thing. (And the other way too from Studio One to Kronos) Looking at the forums its stereo only I believe. This I think is software which makes the Kronos appear as a virtual instrument plugin.Īudio can be sent from the Kronos back into Studio One via USB as well without the need for an audio interface. You may need to also install what Korg call the Kronos Editor/Plugin Editor. So yes you wont need an external Midi interface. You should be able to send midi data to the Kronos from Studio One over USB. (Receiving) So midi data can move between them. A Keyboard (Sending) and also an Instrument. You will need to set up the Kronos as an external device within Studio One.

There is a special USB driver recommended for Macs as well I see in the manual. You will need to install a Korg USB driver. The Kronos needs to be at a certain OS too such as 3.1 I believe. It is not a simple process of just connecting the two things together. (Mac or Windows and what OS are they running) Your operating system info will be helpful.
